Welcome to French!
Bonjour les classes!
Mrs Pugh and I are the French teachers at DSLV and are very much looking forward to sharing our love of the French language and all things French with you next year. We will have lessons each week and by the end of Year 7 you will be able to talk about yourself and understand information about other people, including people in France or French-speaking countries around the world and give your opinion about lots of different things.
We understand that some of you may have studied French before, whilst some of you may be new to the language. Whether you are very confident in the language or not particularly confident, we have ensured that you will be able to access the lesson at and make progress from your own personal start point.
Thank you – merci – to those people who took part in the Year 6 Transition Challenge. We had some lovely submissions, all of which had a huge amount of effort in them and all of which taught me something new.
We look forward to seeing you in September. In the meanwhile, you might like to try a French recipe challenge that Year 7 are currently doing.

A croque-monsieur is one of the most popular snacks in France.
It is a like a toasted cheese and ham sandwich but this recipe cooks it in the oven at around 250C for approximately 10 minutes.
Ask permission from your parents and take care with the hot oven.
Follow the directions and make one of your own!
For 1 croque-monsieur, we will need…
2 slices of bread
1 egg and a bit of milk
Some grated cheese
A slice of ham
A slice of cheese
First wash your hands. Now beat the egg and milk together.
Soak the slices of bread in the mixture then lay a slice of ham and one of cheese onto one of the slices of bread. Now place the other slice of bread on top.
Cover in grated cheese. Place into a pre-heated oven and cook at 220C or 240C for 10 minutes.
Let it cool for a moment when you take it out of the oven – the cheese will be very hot. Enjoy!
